The Department of Mathematics offers both subject-related and teaching-related degree programmes. The range of courses has been completely converted to Bachelor's/Master's degree programmes.
Two specialised degree programmes were added to the range of courses from the start of the winter semester 2016/17. In addition to the Bachelor's degree programme in Mathematics (in German language), a specialised Bachelor's degree programme in Business Mathematics (in German language) is also offered. This provides ideal preparation for the existing Master's degree programme in Business Mathematics and the new Master's degree programme in Actuarial and Financial Mathematics (in English language). Thanks to the well-founded basic training in mathematics, there is also permeability to the other Master's degree programmes in the Department of Mathematics.
Since the winter semester 2018/19, the department (in cooperation with the Distance and Independent Studies Center DISC at RPTU) has also been offering the distance learning Master's degree programme in Financial Engineering (in English language), which is aimed at prospective students from professional practice who wish to continue their education in the financial industry. The new certificate distance learning programme Applied Financial Mathematics (in English language), which was introduced in winter semester 2023/24, is also aimed at the same target group.
Master's Programmes:
Actuarial and Financial Mathematics (M.Sc.)
Mathematics International (M.Sc.)
Continuing Education Programmes (distance learning):
Applied Financial Mathematics (Certificate)
Financial Engineering (M.Sc.)
