Study Mathematics @ RPTU
Information for ERASMUS and Exchange Students
Students who are not seeking a degree at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) can enroll for up to one year as ERASMUS or exchange students (contact students) at RPTU, attend courses or write a thesis.
All courses at the Department of Mathematics are open to exchange students. It should be noted that the courses of the first two academic years of the Bachelor's programmes are offered exclusively in German and only the courses of the graduate programmes are taught in English. The Handbook of the Master's programme Mathematics International gives a good overview about all mathematics courses offered in English. For information on all modules and courses offered by the Department of Mathematics you may check the list in the handbook of modules.
The overview of the currently offered courses at RPTU in Kaiserslautern is provided centrally in the KIS. Various lectures are offered by the Department of Mathematics at irregular intervals. Whether they take place in one semester is not determined until the middle of the previous semester.
The courses of the winter semester are held in the period from mid-October to mid-February, the summer semester from the beginning of April to mid-July. Exams are usually oral. All examinations are during the lecture-free periods. The examination dates are individually arranged by the students with the lecturers. Prior to this, a single registration in the examination administration system of the Department of Mathematics is necessary.
The application for the ERASMUS programme is made centrally via the administration's website. Other exchange students apply to the Graduate School Management Office and use this form to apply. In addition, the curriculum vitae, an up to date academic transcript as well as a list of the planned courses (Learning Agreement) are part of the application documents.
