Departmental library presents itself in new splendour
On 28 April 2022, the newly renovated library for the Departments of Mathematics and Physics was officially opened during a ceremony. With its bright and friendly ambience, it invites students to find the right subject literature and use it for learning directly on site. Through the entrance door, users first enter the area that houses the classic shelves with print media. In the area next door, there are central seating areas made of colourful lounge furniture and separate, likewise furnished study rooms all around.
Thus, in future, students will be able to benefit from an innovative learning centre with numerous group study rooms in the heart of the campus.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Carina Heisel welcomed numerous guests, including representatives of the University Management, the University Library, the Departments of Mathematics and Physics as well as the HA 5 (Building-Technology-Energy) and the "Landesbetrieb Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung". Ralf Werner Wildermuth, Director of the University Library, took those present on a brief journey through time and reviewed the chronicle from planning to implementation. Due to the past Corona semesters, the handover of the renovated library in 2021 had been quiet.
The representatives of the Departments of Mathematics and Physics thanked the university management for the excellent support in the implementation of the project and all those involved for the constructive and largely smooth cooperation. The result of the work is impressive and will provide students with an excellent learning and working environment. With the return to a semester of attendance, it will certainly not be long before the newly created usage possibilities are discovered and in corresponding demand.
