As has been a tradition for many years, the training and selection camp for the best Rhineland-Palatinate participants in the Maths Olympiad (grades 7 to 13) once again took place at the RPTU in Kaiserslautern this year.

From 16th to 20th March 2026, 37 young mathematicians were guests at the RPTU in Kaiserslautern to train at the "Maths Camp" for the national round of the Mathematical Olympiad in summer 2024 and to secure their place in the final round through a selection exam.

The camp has been organised by the state representative for Mathematical Olympiads, Steffen Marhold (Westerwaldgymnasium Altenkirchen), Matthias Reichel (Lise-Meitner Gymnasium Maxdorf) and Henry Jäger (RPTU in Kaiserslautern). They once again could count on the active support of numerous teachers, students and scientists from the Department of Mathematics.

At the end of the camp, a festive event took place on Friday afternoon in the lecture hall of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM), during which the nomination of the RLP team for the national round was announced.
