First Major Colloquium

[Translate to English:] GRK-Landau-02-2026

From February 19 to 20, the first major colloquium of the RTG took place. Doctoral researchers met with associated researchers, Mercator Fellows, and PIs to share ideas on their research progress. In 20-minute presentations, the doctoral researchers presented the current state of their project. The colloquium included intensive scientific exchange and discussions about new results.

Here’s a brief overview of the progress after the first year:

  • Conceptual and methodological contributions, including integrated multiobjective modeling approaches, robustness under uncertainty, online optimization, and Pareto knee approximation.
  • Algorithmic developments, such as parallelized multiobjective algorithms, Bayesian optimization, and practical weighted-sum approximations with runtime and error guarantees.
  • Applications in various areas including portfolio optimization, transportation networks, radiation therapy planning, molecular simulations, DRAM systems, and distillation processes.
