Last week, Emily Ewers, Alex Keilmann and Jelena Zaninović attended the 14th European Congress of Stereology and Image Processing in Prague. Organised by ISSIA in Prague, the conference covered topics in stereology, image processing, stochastic geometry, and spatial statistics. There was a particular focus on the application of these techniques to the life and material sciences.

Emily presented her work on ‘Bayesian Inference for Neyman-Scott Point Processes with Anisotropic Clusters’, a collaboration with Jiří Dvořák, Tomáš Mrkvička and Claudia Redenbach. Alex's paper entitled ‘Stochastic Modeling of Inter-fibre Contacts in Wood Fiber Mats’ (with Claudia Redenbach, Katja Schladitz and François Willot) presented a new model for inter-fibre contacts. This work was developed as part of the Oho project and a research stay at the CMM in Fontainebleau, France. Jelena spoke about ‘Geometric Models for Microstructures of Active Protective Coatings’, a joint project with the Fraunhofer ITWM, the Helmholtz Centre Hereon and AkzoNobel.
