Participation in the ICSDS 2025 in Seville, Spain

Shortly before Christmas, from December 15 to 18, 2025, the 4th edition of the International Conference on Statistics and Data Science (ICSDS) of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics took place. This time, the conference was held in beautiful Seville. The conference itself covered in over 600 contributions a wide range of current research topics in mathematical statistics.

Chiara Fend participated in the invited session “Topological Data Analysis and Classification Methods in Stochastic Geometry and Spatial Statistics” organized by Vesna Gotovac Đogaš. The focus of Chiara's presentation, entitled “Topological Data Analysis for Goodness-of-Fit Testing in Spatial Statistics,” was on how to integrate topological characteristics of spatial point processes and random tessellations into an existing general framework for goodness-of-fit testing in spatial statistics.

In addition to the outstanding scientific program, which took place in part in the historic building of the Royal Tobacco Factory, there was also an extensive social program to get to know Seville and the Andalusian way of life. In particular, the flamenco performance during the conference banquet was a unique experience.
