New BMFTR project: AutoCrack3d
The project “Automatic Detection and Segmentation of Spatial Crack Structures in Complex Components (AutoCrack3d)”, funded by the BMFTR, will begin on June 1, 2026, and will run for three years.
The goal of the project is to develop a validated, integrated method that domain experts can use autonomously and flexibly for the detection and segmentation of spatial crack structures in 3D images of components made of concrete and fiber-reinforced plastics, a method that is also practical for BigImageData.
Project partners are the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM), the University of Ulm, and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.
