From September 4 to September 8, 2017 a international conference on Stochastic Analysis took place at the Department of Mathematics at TU Kaiserslautern. The conference 'Japanese-German Open Conference on Stochastic Analysis 2017' comes in tradition of comparable events, like 2005 in Bielefeld/Bonn, 2006 in Kyoto, 2007 in Berlin, 2008 in Fukuoka, 2012 in Okayama, 2013 in Leipzig and 2015 in Sendai. The research group 'Funktional Analysis and Stochastic Analysis' under the direction of Prof. Dr. Martin Grothaus was hosting this event in 2017. The orginizers, Prof. Dr. Martin Grothaus (TU Kaiserslautern), Prof. Dr. Micheal Röckner (Bielefeld University), Dr. Wolfgang Bock (TU Kaiserslautern) und Dr. Torben Fattler (TU Kaiserslautern) could welcome 75 international researchers at the Department of Mathematics at TU Kaiserslautern, among them 32 researchers from Japan. The international flavor already shows up in the motivation for this event, i.e. in the objective of the scientific exchange of Japanese and German scientists. The predominant number of participants therefore is associated to German or Japanese institutes. Moreover, researchers from the UK, Korea, Romania and the USA were present. Goal of the conference was the scientific exchange of the international researchers community. The envolved researchers shall be brought together to discus the recent development in the field of Stochastic Analysis and therefore to stimulate scientific exchange further. In particular, the conference serves to strengthen existing contacts and to incorporate young researchers into the existing structures. The Japanese-German cooporation shall be kept also in the future and tied up to the succes achieved in the past. Additionally, the conference aims for a sustainable strengthening of Germany as a location of scientific exchange and scientific collaboration within the international researchers community. 'The Japanese-German Open Conference on Stochastic Analysis 2017' was supported financially be the German Research Foundation (DFG).
