The research in the AGAG covers the fields of algebraic geometry, singularity theory, tropical geometry, representation and group theory, number theory and computer algebra. Within the Collaborative Research Center SFB-TRR 195, scientists from AGAG are working together with working groups from other universities on the development of the computer algebra system OSCAR.

In teaching, AGAG offers a wide range of basic and service lectures in mathematics as well as a large number of advanced lectures in their fields of research.
