From 11 to 13 October 2021, the first "Kaiserslautern Applied and Industrial Mathematics Days" took place under the title KLAIM 2021 as a joint event of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM) and the Department of Mathematics. More than sixty international scientists accepted the invitation of the two organisers Prof. Dr. Anita Schöbel and Prof. Dr. Bernd Simeon. The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for applied mathematicians from universities, research laboratories and industry to exchange ideas and present the latest research results.

But the aim is also to firmly anchor the conference in the scientific community, as it is to be held every two years in future. The focus of this first edition of KLAIM was on the role of applied mathematics in the development of digital twins. This was illuminated in forty short lectures and extensive discussion sessions. There is an accompanying conference volume with the abstracts of the talks.

Details can be found on the conference website.
